Tech Tip: Typing Test

The two sites I tried were KeyHero.com and Typing.com. I was a lot better on KeyHero at 54 wpm and 47 wpm on typing.com. I have never considered myself a fast typer, so I never know how good I should be. I also have really fat fingers, and I think that causes me to make a lot more mistakes than people that don't have sausage links as fingers. One thing that people always tell me is that I type very loudly too. I always get made fun of by my friends for always typing so loud and distracting them. I have tried to type more quietly but I do not feel like my point is getting across as well as I want to. It also goes back to the whole sausage fingers thing. They are too heavy that every keyboard they hit has a ton of course behind them.

In middle school we had to take a typing class for 9 weeks. We would always get a document that we had to type and also some games to play on a software for typing. I do not remember much about it other than we always got to do our own thing whenever we finished. I do not see how I could get faster at typing other than continued typing. This class has definitely helped me especially when I am frantically trying to get an assignment typed out before the grace period ends. Overall, I enjoy typing and think it is very useful to be good at it for whatever career you may have.

Comments

  1. Hi Jacob! Here I am commenting again but we need to so you will be seeing my comments a whole lot from now on so I can get my points in before the end of this course. I feel like this typing test thing is very important as I had to do typing tests and have my keyboarding skills tested in order to even apply to have a job as a medical scribe. As you may know, medical scribe job positions are very much important and an individual is able to gain a lot of hands on experience that many volunteers do not get to have so having a typing test as one of the qualifications is cool but also scary. Free online typing tests like these can really help you get quicker at typing and allow you to practice practice practice! Good job with this tech tip!

Introduction to Ya Boi Jacob Heath

Hey all, My name is Jacob, but I go by many nicknames: Jake, Heath (my last name), DJ (it is a long story). You can also just call me Jacob, which is what most people do. My major is microbiology/pre-med. Microbiology is an odd major because the first microbiology course I took was not until second semester junior year, so I am glad I enjoyed it or else I would have wasted my first two years on a major I did not enjoy! I eventual plan is to become a doctor. I still have a long ways to get there, but I am hopeful. People always ask me what specialty I am planning on, and I always hate giving them an answer. That part of my life is sooooo far away that I know my views and likes on different areas of medicine will change. Because most people expect an answer, I tell them sleep medicine because something about sleep and dreams interest me so much. I was the kid who had night terrors and sleep walked (I still do sometimes), so I think it would be a good fit for me. My biggest hobby wo...

Week 12 Story: Seeking Refuge

A family of five stand in the long line at the Mexico/US border trying to get through. The mother asks the father if he has the correct paperwork needed to cross through. They believe there will be no issue as they are only seeking refuge in the states. With anticipation they wait. Longer and longer as the sun beats down overhead. Finally, after about six hours waiting, their turn comes. The border patrol asks for their paperwork. He stares at it for a long time as if trying to find something wrong with it. Eventually he hands it back to them and tells them to pass. The children start to get excited, but the mother tells them to calm down. They are not in the clear until the border is no longer in sight. As they begin the cross the bridge by foot, they are stopped by another patrol. He tells them to come over for a random inspection. The father does not know what they are going to inspect. All they have are the clothes on their backs. The officer searches each one of them, even t...
